How Long Do Turkey Eggs Take to Hatch?

Turkey eggs take 28 days to hatch, one full week longer than chicken eggs. Days 1–7: the embryo begins forming, visible on candling as a network of blood vessels. Days 7–14: steady growth continues; poult shape becomes recognizable. Days 14–28: rapid growth fills the egg; lockdown begins around day 25 with humidity raised to 75% ahead of hatching.

Signs of Healthy Incubation Progress

• Day 7 candling: visible blood vessel network and dark embryo confirm fertility.
• Day 14 candling: egg appears mostly dark, embryo movement often visible, air cell clearly enlarged.
• Day 25 lockdown check: egg should be almost entirely dark with a large, well-defined air cell before you stop turning.
• Pipping around day 26–27: followed by zipping and full emergence typically by day 28.
